VISITOR INFORMATION
AccessibilityThe main circulation path is about ¾ mile, but there are shortcuts. There are no really steep hills or any steps on the main route, but there are uneven surfaces or steps in specific gardens like the rock garden, or the tea house and other ‘rooms’.
The main circulation path surface is either grass, packed wood chips, or compacted dirt. See below for some images. The only areas that you may have difficulty are where new wood chips have been added: sometimes they are deepish, and may present a navigation challenge. |
We have spoken to a person in a self-propelled wheelchair, who said it was no problem. A scooter with fat tires reported no problems, but a scooter with small street or house tires did have problems. A regular wheelchair with thin tires might be a challenge, unless you had a determined person pushing you,
We have handicapped accessible bathrooms and van accessible parking spots.
We also offer an overview tour with our accessibility golf cart (see below).
Also, if you do come, please let us know what you thought! We need the feedback from an accessibility point of view.
